How to Visualize Spotify Music with SYQEL

SYQEL Desktop hears Spotify directly, with no routing or extra apps.

In SYQEL Desktop

1. Open Spotify and start playing a song or playlist.
2. In SYQEL, open the audio source list at the left of the top bar.
3. If Spotify isn’t listed, click the refresh button (↻) next to the list.
4. Pick App Audio: Spotify.
5. On a Mac, the first time you do this, macOS asks for permission. Allow it.

The Input meter at the right of the stage moves with the music, and the visuals react straight away.

This needs macOS 14.4 or later, or Windows 10 build 19041 or later. It works with the Spotify app; if you play Spotify in a browser, pick your browser’s App Audio entry instead.

In the web app

A browser can’t hear Spotify or another tab directly, only a microphone or an audio input. Send Spotify’s sound into a virtual audio device and pick that device in SYQEL. See Creating a virtual audio input.

Tips

• Start playback before you refresh. Spotify appears only while it is playing sound.
• If you restart Spotify, pick it again in the list.
