Downloading and installing SYQEL Desktop

Download SYQEL Desktop from syqel.com/download. It runs on macOS 12 or later (Apple Silicon or Intel) and on 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. SYQEL is free to download and try; a subscription unlocks it.

Mac

There are two Mac installers. Pick the one that matches your Mac:

• Mac · Apple Silicon for Macs with an M-series chip.
• Mac · Intel for older Macs with an Intel processor.

Not sure which you have? Open the Apple menu › About This Mac. If it lists a Chip starting with “Apple”, choose Apple Silicon. If it lists an Intel Processor, choose Intel.

To install:

1. Open the downloaded .pkg file from your Downloads folder.
2. Follow the installer’s steps.
3. Open SYQEL Desktop from your Applications folder. To reach it quickly, keep it in your Dock: right-click its Dock icon and choose Options › Keep in Dock.

What macOS asks for. macOS asks for permission the first time SYQEL needs to listen to something:

• Microphone, when you pick a microphone or audio interface.
• Audio recording, when you pick System Audio or an App Audio source (macOS 14.4 or later).

Click Allow both times. If you clicked Don’t Allow, turn SYQEL back on in System Settings › Privacy & Security, under Microphone or Screen & System Audio Recording. Then pick the source again, or relaunch SYQEL for the microphone.

Windows

You can install SYQEL Desktop in either of two ways:

• The installer: download the Windows .exe from syqel.com/download, open it, and follow the steps. You can choose where to install it, and it adds a desktop shortcut.
• The Microsoft Store: get SYQEL from its Microsoft Store page.

Windows doesn’t ask for audio permissions. Every source works as soon as you pick it.

After installing

Open SYQEL and sign in with Google, Facebook or an emailed link. The first time, SYQEL offers to Sync my visuals, which downloads your library so it plays offline. Then pick your audio source in the top bar. The Quick Start Guide walks you through the rest.

Updates

SYQEL keeps itself up to date. It checks for a new version when it opens and every few hours after that. When one is ready, an Update available button appears in the top bar:

1. Click Update available. The download shows as Updating with a percentage.
2. Click Restart to update. Or keep playing: the update installs the next time you quit.

Nothing downloads until you click, so an update never interrupts a set. There is no “Check for updates” menu item, and you don’t need one.

If you installed from the Microsoft Store, updates come through the Store instead.
